Australian Letter

April 15, 2016
Monkey Mia, Australia
Dear Mom and Dad,
Everything is fine with me and Nils. We really enjoy being here. The people here are so friendly. Unlike Sweden you talk with other people when you are waiting for the bus or the ferry.

Can you ever think what I’ve done today?
No? Okay, I’ll tell you guys.
We’ve been in Shark Bay, can you believe it? It was so fun. I would like to do it one more time. It lies in the Gascoynedistrict, Western Australia. The bay is 8000km2 big and the middle deep is 9 meters. The coastline is over 1500km long. We were in Monkey Mia. There live about 10 000 manatees and a lot of dolphins. Also 26 endangered species live in Shark Bay. Almost 100 reptile species and over 300 different fish species also live there. Shark bay is a really important play area for all those animals. So it’s very important that we take care of the sea. Oh, I almost forgot! Of course also sharks and ray-fishes live there.

We’ve also been in Sydney and of course we visited  the famous opera house. Did you know that they started to build the opera house in 1959. And the first opening day was in 1973. The house took 14 years to build, 14 years!! Actually it took 10 years more than they expected to build it.  Do you know how many clinker slabs there are on the front? Over 1 056 000 white, glazed clinker slabs! All of these are made in Höganäs. Thename of the factorys was Höganäs-Billesholms AB and now the name is Höganäs AB.

Tomorrow we’re going to Melbourne, I’m so excited!

Bye!
Henric
